EVIL DEAD
Sooo... I saw EVIL DEAD last night! This film marks the third telling of the original 1981 story about that iconic lone cabin in the haunted woods and let me tell you its just as hardcore as the first one! All you horror fans can breath a sigh of relief because this is true 1980's horror film making returned from the dead to show all those other crappy horror flicks how to do it. This film mixes truly horrifying images with high tension and keeps the blood and violence levels turned up to 11. This film is a remake of the original Evil Dead film with a little bit of Evil Dead 2 sprinkled on top but it still manages to bang out its own interesting version of the story that will have audiences cringing and twisting in their seats and Raimi fans squealing with glee. THIS FILM IS NOT FOR CHILDREN! Even if you're one of those "cool" parents who think "Susie will be fine!" NO! She really won't be. This is as close to NC-17 as you can possibly get and for those of you who know anything about the Evil Dead you'll be glad that it is but for general audience I'm sorry to say that it just may be too much. Overall, EVIL DEAD is a damn good film and truly one of the most frightening you'll see this year. This is one for the shelf. Evil Dead gets a blood curdling 4.5...out of 5.
