I saw THE LONE RANGER last night! HIHO SILVER was this a fun movie! If you know anything about me you know that I'm a big fan of westerns and the big summer western action comedy flick, though hard to come by, is one of my favorites. So if you're like me and you liked movies like The Mask of Zorro or The Good The Bad and The Weird or Shanghai Noon, you'll for sure like this movie too because its fun, exciting and all around just a great time at the movies. The story centers around Army Hammer and Johnny Depp, who play the titular Lone Ranger and Tonto respectively, and their quest to seek revenge from a mutual enemy in the villainous Butch Cavendish, played by William Fichtner. Action, excitement, comedy are the name of the game here and although it runs a bit long, Hammer and Depp's chemistry is a little lackluster and Depp's Tonto still has a twinge or two of Jack Sparrow in him, you can overlook it because the film on the whole is just downright enjoyable. So make sure you get a large popcorn and a nice cold ICEE and just enjoy this movie. The Lone Ranger earns itself 3.5 brightly shining stars...out of 5.
