50 Classic Horror Films You SHOULDN'T Watch: DON'T WATCH The Terminator

They can't be bargained with, they can't be reasoned with, they don't feel pity or remorse of fear and they absolutely will not stop until you are dead. Ever since the turn of the industrial revolution, man has been mistrusting it's mechanical counterparts. The king of the kill machines, is that chrome clad red eyed stalker-bot The Terminator. Right now, if you're saying, "hey Duke! Terminator is an action movie isn't it?" Well, I hate to break it to you but you're wrong. The original Terminator is a sci-fi tension filled horror thriller. Is he gonna catch em? What the hell happened to Arnold's eyebrows? Watch it in the dark and I swear you'll be biting your nails. I gotta say Terminator is easily in my top 10 favorite movies of all time but if you're looking for more exciting killbots, I've got a lot of advice to give to you

DEATH MACHINE. If one film deserves to be a cult classic, Death Machine is it! It's a send up tribute film to a lot of iconic sci-fi films of the 80s that pays tribute to films like Terminator, Aliens, RoboCop and several others and probably most importantly it is CLEARLY the inspiration for The Dark Knight! As far as the plot goes, it's actually kinda difficult to explain because it draws from so many other films but for the sake of brevity, imagine Ellen Ripley and Robocop vs Heath Ledger's Joker and his robotic velociraptor. The movie's villain is FOR CERTAIN Heath Ledger's major inspiration for his Oscar winning performance as the Joker and I don't say that lightly at all, it's blatantly obvious. It's half good but half cheesy but overall it's a winner! Plus it's on Netflix this month so you have no excuse!

DEMON SEED. Imagine if you will, if HAL 9000 downloaded himself into your house and locked you in your home wanting you to be part and parcel to it's perverted and sick science experiments. This lesser known film of the 70s is creepytastic and uncomfortable on a level that's just incredible. It's old school movie making with a WHOLE lot of dark undertones. The third act is the best part of this movie and the final scene is SHOCKING! You may have to search for this one but you'll like it.

HARDWARE. Terminator's success in the 80s quickly spun off a lot of imitators who were looking to cash in on the tech noir craze with very few of them finding much success. This movie however, will have you watching with wibberly wobberly eyes. The film takes place in a post-apocalyptic world and tells the story of a scavenger who finds a prototype killer robot designed for military use in the old world but has been long since decommissioned. Through a series of mistakes, the machine is turned on and it commences to murder everyone in the room. It's like Terminator mixed with Mad Max plus it features Iggy Pop, Lemmy and William "Porkins" Hootkins! It's also on Netflix so finding it will be easy-peasy.

CHOPPING MALL. This movie asks the question, what would have happened if the military robots from Short Circuit were commissioned to protect your local shopping mall? Well the answer is, they break and kill the night staff and the teenagers making out in Bed Bath and Beyond. This is has some good scares in it and while it is undoubtedly 80's and somewhat cliche by today's standards, it's a fun and you'll get enjoyment from it.
